May 2023 Bank Holidays: Mark Your Calendar for 12 Days of Closures

New Delhi: May 2023 has begun and like every month, this month also has several bank holidays. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released a list of bank holidays (Bank Holidays in May 2023) for banks in May 2023 at the national level. However, some states also have bank closures on different festivals. According to information on the RBI's official website, there will be 12 bank closures in different states in May. Therefore, if you plan to visit the bank for any banking-related work, it is advisable to check beforehand whether the bank is closed or not. Otherwise, you may

Bank holidays in May 2023:

On May 7th, 2023, banks will be closed nationwide in observance of the weekly holiday on Sunday.

Banks will be closed on May 13th, 2023, which falls on the second Saturday of the month and is a scheduled holiday for banks.

May 14th, 2023, will be a Sunday and a weekly holiday, resulting in the closure of all banks across the country.

Banks will remain closed on May 27th, 2023, which falls on the fourth Saturday of the month and is a scheduled holiday for banks.

The final closure of the month will be on May 28th, 2023, which is a Sunday and a weekly holiday observed by all banks nationwide.

1 May 2023: Banks will be closed in Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, Patna, and Thiruvananthapuram on

the occasion of Maharashtra Day and Labour Day.

On May 5, 2023, banks located in several cities across India including Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, and Srinagar will be closed to observe Buddha Purnima.

9 May 2023: Banks will be closed in Kolkata on the occasion of Rabindranath Tagore's birthday.

16 May 2023: Banks will be closed in Sikkim on the occasion of Sikkim Day.

22 May 2023: Banks will be closed in Shimla on the occasion of Maharana Pratap Jayanti.

24 May 2023, banks in Tripura will remain closed to observe Kazi Nazrul Islam Jayanti.
